Helen and Sean talk with therapist and educator Linda Goldman, a faculty member at John Hopkins University and the University of Maryland School of Social Work, about how to facilitate safe settings for LGBT youth in schools and other child-oriented environments. Goldman is author of several books including “Coming Out; Coming In,” “Life and Loss: A Guide to Help Grieving Children,” and “Raising Our Children to Be Resilient: A Guide for Helping Children Cope with Trauma in Today’s World”. She stresses the importance of open hearts and open minds for parents, teachers, and therapists in ensuring healthy, accepting and safe environments for all youth and provides some guidelines for approaching those who need to be enlightened about homophobia.
