MLK Service Project PSAs On The Air and On The Web!

WFHB is proud to partner with the city of Bloomington for “A Day On, Not a Day Off”, a celebration of the ideals and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  As part of our coverage of this year’s events we’re highlighting some of the many local volunteer service projects honoring the King legacy.  You can join an active celebration of the King holiday by participating in these or any community service project honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Junior’s vision of peace, understanding, and justice.

Cathi's CD Reviews 12/31/2011

Boyes, Fiona “Blues for Hard Times” (VizzTone)  B+

Blues fingerpickin whiz Boyes plays masterfully on old country blues, fingerpickin’ Piedmont styles and even a little barrelhouse blues, backed by some great guest players (Bob Margolin, Derek O’Brien, Jimi Bott, Kaz Kazanoff etc.). She is quite a guitar player and writes mostly originals.  Vocals are okay—a cross between smooth and growly, but she shines on that guitar.  Good for all mixes.

WFHB's Crazy Christmas Party This Friday Night at FARM!

What do Bootsy Collins, Frank Sinatra, and Joey Ramone all have in common?  They all have songs in WFHB's eclectic collection of holiday music.  Join us this Friday from 8pm to midnight in the Root Cellar basement of the FARM Bloomington restaurant for WFHB's first-ever Crazy Christmas party, featuring WFHB personalities spinning yuletide tunes you never hear on commercial radio.  Admission is free but we will accept donations!

Donate to WFHB by December 31 for your 2011 tax deduction!

This holiday season, you can give your friends and family the gift of WFHB.  In these uncertain times, support for community radio is more important than ever.  As a trusted source for all things local, WFHB is a unique community institution.  Your contribution today will help ensure the great programs you like best will be there for you tomorrow.  As 2011 draws to a close, please take a moment to think of how important WFHB is to you, and make a tax-deductible contribution today.  Your gift will allow us to continue making the creative choices you want, not choices from a menu of financially-driven alternatives.  On behalf of the volunteers of WFHB, thank you for your support this year, and we look forward to serving you in 2012.
