2009 National Community Radio Conference: On My Way Home

Taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi in the Portland airport to let my fellow dawgs know I'm headed home, exhausted but inspired.  Today I did a roundtable specifically for news directors and was grateful to be asked for much advice on getting a volunteer-based news operation going.  There are many stations like us but smaller and leaner, looking to do what we have done at WFHB.  And the future looks bright: recent FCC filings will result in nearly 200 new community radio stations and doubling of the number of Native American stations from 33 to 66.There aren't many big cities I can see myself living in but Portland is one of them.  I've got fresh pictures and stories but they're boarding my plane home so I'll have to update this once I'm on the ground again.  Hope Fund Drive is going well.
