Minutes
WFHB Development Committee
June 15, 2010
Committee met at 5 Pm at Radio Station. Present: Pam Raider, Will Murphy, Shaun Mc Dermott, Suzette Weakley, and Emily Jackson.
Minutes approved as posted on line. Will to send to Spot. Calendar: Pam brought small desk calendar – had priced dry erasers. Shaun offers to donate one to station for posting of events in hallway.
As we entered events in calendar Will mentioned that the News Dept. proposed having Jim Hightower speak around Labor Day as a fund raiser - requires follow-up.
We discussed names to expand the development committee: Suzette and Emily would have been my additions, Will suggests John Kay, who has said he is willing to help with grant writing. Shaun may also have someone in mind. Joe, Carolyn and Kirby also are on email list.
Development Committee clarification: Our job is to raise money through such avenues as underwritng, grants, long term development.
Matchstick: Explanation to Suzette and Emily. If we raise $7500 for Bloomington and Monroe County Community Foundation, they will match us with $2500. As this endowment grows so does our return each year. The principle remains with foundation. Topic will be revisited next year. We have agreed to participate this year. Shaun and Pam will both be contributing. Emily puts forth two other names.
Underwriting discussion: Suzette suggests it might be helpful to know who already underwrites – discussion of those surrounding the court house. Will to get us list of current underwriters so we do not duplicate efforts – Suzette to start right away. Pam offers to contact some businesses in Nashville. Suggestion made to have packet and brief spiel as first contact. Packet to include updated program guide, preliminary package idea of price and number of times it would air weekly, Bumper sticker, Will’s card. Will reminds us that we used googledocs last year and it was very helpful to get us over dry spell in August.
Question for the board about committees who is on what and can we revive marketing and volunteer committees.
Next meeting Tuesday June 29, 5-6 PM at the station.
