MLK Day In Review

Whew, it's over! As we load the final audio onto the website, another intense MLK Day draws to a close. This year was more productive than last, with more volunteers, more PSAs, more day-of audio, and a problem-free live broadcast using the new remote broadcast system we launched a year ago today.

Here's the audio of keynote speaker Jesse Jackson's speech, the cleanest copy available on the Internet!http://www.wfhb.org/news/jesse-jackson-turn-lights-backYou can hear the entire live feed here, including Jesse Jackson's keynote address:

And the kids did great on our annual youth-produced documentary "A King's Legacy" - that's on our website too:

There are so many people to thank, I hope I don't miss any:

LIVE BROADCAST CREW
Shane Young, director
Jim Lang, control room supervisor
Tyren Edenburgh, broadcast monitor

A KING'S LEGACY CREW
Cub reporters: Kai Grise, Lindsey Randle, Jael Lampkins
Field supervisors: Audra Lampkins, Domini Martin, Alexander Pareja, Austin Piech, April Woodson, Anna-Christina Acosta, Alea Ford, January Jones
Segment producers: Andrew Anderson, John Elliott

Thanks also to staffers Jim and Will for their support and to all the volunteer programmers who put up with our MLK insanity. My favorite moment was around 6:50pm when Kai got to interview Jesse Jackson, asking him the same questions he had been asking kids all day, getting heavy with the final question "What would King say to President Obama?" but starting with "What is your name?" (!) Jackson answered him patiently and deliberately: "Jesse, Louis, Jackson, Senior."

Radio gold, people.
