WFHB Board elects new officers

WFHB's board of directors has elected a new slate of officers. At their first meeting of the fiscal year, the nine members of the Bloomington Community Radio board of directors elected Marc Tschida as board president. He succeeds outgoing president Mark Need, a professor with Indiana University's Maurer School of Law. Need had opted not to pursue a second term. Tschida formerly served as performance and technical director for the John Waldron Arts Center, and has been active as a promoter and night club manager in Bloomington for many years. He is now pursuing a graduate degree in arts administration at the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs. "I'm very excited to lend my voice and experience to the station, and to work with the amazing board, staff, and volunteers at WFHB. It's a time of great change both for the station and the telecommunications industry more broadly," Tschida said. "Among my top priorities is to get the board working on the process of strategic planning." The WFHB directors also re-elected Shaun McDermott as treasurer of the board. McDermott is the Chief Financial Officer of Bloomington's Cornerstone Information Systems. He brings more than 18 years of corporate finance, marketing and financial analysis to the station. McDermott has served on the WFHB board since October of 2009. Board newcomer Emily Jackson will take over as secretary, succeeding former board member Carolyn Vande Wiele. Jackson is a long-time WFHB volunteer, serving in a number of roles. She has extensive experience in non-profit management, supervising both staff and volunteers, working in fundraising, and guiding advisory boards. Other members of the WFHB board for the coming year include Mike McAfee, Mark Need, Matt Pierce, Pam Raider, and Suzette Weakley.
