WFHB hosting classes through People's University

WFHB is proud to offer classes open to the public through the City of Bloomington's People's University.  WFHB staff and volunteers will offer instruction in "Media 101 for Non-Profits and Other Publicity Seekers", "Community Journalism", and "Music Engineering and Production".  Click "Read more" for details on these courses and how to sign up.

Instructors: Chad Carrothers, WFHB Station Manager; January Jones, WFHB News Director; and guest speakers. Chad Carrothers is general manager of Indiana's first community radio station, WFHB. He also founded the WFHB News & Public Affairs Department in 2003 and is an expert in training on audio production. January Jones, WFHB News Director, has an MA in Journalism and an undergraduate degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University. She also has a background in social services and teaching.

Community Journalism

We teach citizens how to "become the media" using WFHB's award-winning model of volunteer-powered news production. Topics include the art of storytelling, how to conduct interviews, and how to use phone, camera, audio recorder, and free online resources to produce content for radio and the internet.

Music Engineering and Production

 See the process of setting up live concerts and in-studio performances from start to finish in two sessions. During the first session, we'll set up and record a live band. In the second session, we'll work with production equipment to learn audio editing basics and how to post content to the Web.
