The Fire House Theatre

The Fire House Theatre presents the best in audio theatre, old and new. I've been hosting the program since the very first Sunday WFHB was on the air, back in 1993.

Sometimes there are wonderful programs from the Golden Age of Radio -- OTR shows of all kinds, especially including the works of our friend Norman Corwin,

But FHT especially showcases the best new productions from all over the world. We often feaure The Firesign Theatre and the fabulous contemporary works of producers like Tom Lopez and his ZBS Productions, or the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company. And there are many more, from all across the United States and around the English-speaking world.

The oldest program ever heard on The Fire House Theatre was recorded on a wax cylinder, back in the 1890s -- and the newest was created live on the air, right before your very ears. Older programs are in mono, but new ones feature stereo (even binaural) sound and the latest digital recording techniques. Comedy, drama, history, mystery, science fiction, horror tales, western stories, parody, satire, fantasy and beloved classics are all heard on FHT every week for two full hours.

If you'd like to know more about modern audio theatre, begin with a visit to Henry Howard's Audiotheatre page, and if you're interested in creating and performing you can't find a better place to start than the National Audio Theatre Festivals webpage.

Please let me know what you think! Your comments and requests are always welcome, and I'm always on the lookout for new programs and producers. Write to me care of WFHB, and enjoy the show!

Cheers,

Richard
