Radio Stew

I'll be on the air (programming) for the first time since July, 2007 tonight from 11:00 PM-1:00 AM.

Tonight's showgram will feature a touch of music by a few folks who may (it's generally not known for sure until it happens) be performing at the 25th Annual ELF-Fest (May 20th-26th, 2008 at Lothlorien Nature Sanctuary in Lawrence County, Needmore, Indiana, USA) including the New World Renaissance Band, Frances Evonne Miller, Roger Drawdy & the Firestarters and Black Stone Ritual. Also featured tonight will be Those Poor Bastards, the .357 String Band, some music from the Doors live at the Boston Arena in 1970 and the Grateful Dead from their new box set 'Winterland 1973: The Complete Recordings.' Time permitting, there might also be something from the Dead's new 'Road Trips' series releases. And, of course, some other audio gems will likely and randomly round out the festivities to make it yet another eclectic, eccentric mix of sonic wonderment.

Tune in and check it out if you dare. I'll post the "set list" some time soon after the broacast. Thank you for supporting WFHB Community Radio.

I don't know how often or not I'll be on the air since I am a substitute music programmer and I no longer have a regular showgram. However, whenever I am on the air, I treat the occasion like the personal holiday that it is.

Radio Stew, Part 2

I'd forgotten that there was still going to be election coverage happening during tonight's showgram so I didn't get to nearly as much music as I'd intended. But that was a heck of a job with the WFHB News Department's extended coverage and it made for an interesting time for me to be refamiliarized with live programming. Anyway, here's the "set list" from tonight's showgram (artist-disc-track):

Those Poor Bastards-Hellfire Hymns-The Dust Storm, Frances Evonne Miller-Full Circle-Ancestor Two/Step, Roger Drawdy & the Firestarters-Hallowed Ground-The Tempest, Black Stone Ritual-Black Stone Ritual-Untamed Beast, Agents of Oblivion-Agents of Oblivion-Slave Riot, Dax Riggs-We Sing Only of Blood or Love-Truth in the Dark, Dipstick (this track w/Barbara Manning)-Don't Rewind: Remixes & Other Rendezvous-These Days (Canoga Park Remix), Paul Didge-The Albino Aborigine-Oldworld, Those Poor Bastards-Hellfire Hymns-Have I been Faithful?>The Hellbound Train, the Doors-Live in Boston 1970-Light My Fire (from the second show), Sade-Sade-Nothing can Come Between Us, .357 String Band-Ghost Town-Evil on My Mind (w/Lonesome Wyatt), Grateful Dead-*Cincinnati 12/04/1973-China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider.  *denotes that this disc is the bonus disc that came with my copy of 'Winterland 1973: The Complete Recordings.'

The next time that I'm on the air I'll likely play tracks from Those Poor Bastards' latest release entitled 'The Plague' and I'll try to actually play stuff from the Grateful Dead's latest release called 'Winterland 1973: The Complete Recordings' and/or some stuff from their two recent 'Road Trips' releases. The .357 String Band deserves more airplay and I'm sure to come up with other interesting audio tidbits.

Warning:

I'll be on the air again this coming Tuesday (May 13th) from 11:00 PM-1:00 AM. As promised, I'll play what I said that I would in my last post, including the stuff that I alluded to. I'll probably get to some more Black Stone Ritual (who'll be performing at the 25th Annual ELF-Fest on Saturday, May 24th), too. Enjoy! Oh, and this time I'll post the "set list" in the "Music Playlists" section. Feel free to let me know what you think about the showgram and to let me know about good stuff that I might not know about.

Playlists

I think that the problem with me being able to post in the "Music Playlists" section has been resolved so beginning with this Thursday's showgram I'll post my playlists there. Thanks for your patience.

Mysterious Vanishings

Be advised that the best way to check for data and playlists here for the showgrams that I host on the air is to do so quickly. Some things that I post here tend to mysteriously disappear. (I generally post set lists within an hour or two of going off the air.)
