The emphasis was on 'live' performances during this first show of the Fall Fund Drive.
"Roots For Breakfast" this week featured music entirely from the collection of the Monroe County Library, here in Bloomington, Indiana. My 'Roots' (the early years) were founded in '60's AM Rock-n-Roll and my parents' Jazz collection and while the 'Rock' music wasn't featured, the Jazz was. Plus a bunch of the stuff commonly heard on this show.
Contributitions are always welcomed, either of new or older recordings and I'll bet the Library wouldn't mind a musicial donation as well, so I'll list their address, too.

Today's show focused on music recorded in the early 1990's at two Contra and Square dance weekends, mostly from the 'Sugar Hill' event, sponsored by the Bloomington Old Time Music and Dance Group (this year is the 30th Anniversary of 'Sugar Hill') and from the Childgrove Country Dancers' 'Kimmswick' weekend, located near St. Louis, MO.
It would be impossibe to list who played and called (using the computer program for this feature,) but included callers: Fred Park; Mrytle Wilhite; Bill Sudcamp; Roger Diggle and Mark Richardson and musicians: Roger Diggle & Barb Zavon; Tom VanCleeve, Tom Yeiser, Jill Langfitt and Rogger Diggle; The Hoosier Humdingers; Lynn "Chirps" Smith, Rhys Jones and Jim Johnson; Julie Austin, Roger Diggle & Jonathan Hawkins; Hanno Meingast & Mrytle Wilhite and Geoff Seitz, Dave Landreth, Jim Nelson, Bob Holt, Forrest Rose, Tom Mittebrom and a couple of folks whose names I don't know.
Today's show was influenced by the type of music usually heard on the WFHB Tuesday evening show, "The Old Changing Way." Tunes and songs from a wide variety of 'Celtic' recordings, all records, from my personal collection.
As always, contributitions are welcome and can be mailed to:

A hodge-podge (or is it a 'mish-mash?') of music from the past and present, based this week mostly from records and a few CD's. 'Folk,' 'Old-Time,' 'Twang' and 'Humor' were overly featured along with music that doesn't quite fit a specific catagory, but still fits the idea of the show.
Contributions are welcomed, even older stuff, and can be mailed to:

This week's show featured music from the local library's collection (except for the Harry Manx recording.)
