bOUT2: News & Views - Aug 10, 2009

Helen and Sean discuss the significance of long-term lesbian (and same-sex in general) relationships as represented by a couple from Florida who are in their late nineties and have been together for seventy years. Also in this program: National Manager of Membership & Development for CenterLink Guido Sanchez talks about the importance of LGBT community centers for the overall well being of queer individuals. Such centers provide an inclusionary climate for personal acceptance and safety, educational opportunities and help to empower a community in the face of cultural discrimination. Our featured musical artist is Martine Locke with three tracks from her album "Undone". bOUT2 is a spinoff podcast of bloomingOUT, Indiana's only out, loud, and proud radio show, a public affairs program dedicated to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer community. Each week on bOUT2 Helen Harrell and Sean Lemieux deconstruct the week's top queer news and talk with guests you didn't hear in this week's bloomingOUT.
