Our community's only African-American union leader discusses the Employee Free Choice Act and other issues affecting working families. Carven Thomas is president and business manager of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2249. He represents workers at the Bloomington General Electric plant, which is slated to close in the beginning of 2010. The Employee Free Choice Act would amend the National Labor Relations Act to establish an easier system to enable employees to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to provide for mandatory injunctions for unfair labor practices during organizing efforts, and for other purposes. Also in this program: we pay tribute to the legendary King of Pop with WFHB Music Director Jim Manion and Gary native Thomas Doyle. We talk about our favorite Michael Jackson songs and hear some of them, including the 1978 demo version of "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" featuring percussion played on glass bottles. Bring It On! also features regional and national headline news relevant to the local African-American community. Hosted by Jim Sims and Beverly Calender-Anderson.
