A public hearing was held today on a million-dollar request for economic stimulus money for the Rural Transit bus system, and one user of that system says the money needs to have strings attached. Randy Paul is a longtime user of Rural Transit and BT Access, and helped drivers unionize last fall. In this segment you’ll hear Paul outline some of the many problems he sees with management and training of drivers at the Area 10 Agency on Aging, which runs the Rural Transit program. County commissioner Iris Kiesling attended today’s session and says she intend to support the application when the commissioners vote on it tomorrow morning. As our on-location feed from the county courthouse begins Area 10 director Jewel Echelbarger outlines what the money will be spent on in this WFHB exclusive.
