Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus have been found in Monroe County; Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of retired State Trooper Melvin Walker, found dead yesterday; An early morning fire engulfed a two-story home on Hoover Road in Brown County late last night; the number of homes sold in Monroe County has plummeted compared to last year, according to the Indiana Association of Realtors; the county council approves an appropriation to fund satellite voting sites, pending a vote by the county election board; over 7000 first-year students move in at Indiana University today; Monroe County commissioners approve a five-year multi-hazard mitigation plan, making local governments eligible for certain federal disaster relief funds; county officials plan to install new high efficiency light fixtures in county buildings; the Indiana Department of Transportation will conduct a public hearing tomorrow on recently released Draft Environmental Impact Statement for Section 4 of I-69.

Segall is an investigative reporter for WTHR in Indianapolis who once drove to a site that was supposed to house a factory employing hundreds, but all HE found was a cornfield.
