Hola Bloomington - November 6, 2009

Hosts Carlos Gonzalez and Laura Bult talk to filmmaker Nicholas Bruckman about his feature film "La Americana". Bruckman is a writer, director, and producer who also considers himself an activist. "La Americana" is an intimate documentary following an undocumented immigrant's journey from Bolivia to New York City and back, as she struggles to save the life of her ailing daughter. Her unforgettable story is woven into the current immigration crisis in the United States, putting a human face on this timely and controversial issue. Hola Bloomington also highlights this week's community events and volunteer opportunities in a segment prepared by Jenny Gibson and Daniel Soto. As always we feature cultural segments produced by Nuevos Horizontes, a program of the University of Illinois Extension, and Latin American news from Radio Bilingue.
