WFHB Digital Radio

WFHB signed on in 1993 with a transmitter that was already used. We haven’t made significant upgrades to our transmission equipment since. If WFHB is to stay timely and relevant, we must upgrade our transmitter to support HD Radio. The new equipment is expensive -- nearly $100,000 total, but we have already come a long way to meeting this challenge. We have secured a digital conversion grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting worth $57,000, but we must match it with an additional $28,000. To date we have secured nearly $20,000. Now we need to raise just $8,000 more before March 15th to bring you WFHB HD radio!

The WFHB transmitter will not only be newer, it will be a better, digital transmitter. We will be able to broadcast a digital signal which allows for additional channels and improved CD-quality sound. We would love for you to experience that better sound, so if you donate $180 to help us go digital we have a new Insignia Portable HD radio for you as our way of saying thanks. Of course, any amount is welcome and every donation is appreciated. So, please show your support for Local, Live, Community, DIGITAL radio.

WFHB Variety Show: Friday, March 27

The WFHB Live Variety Show Extravaganza: An Evening with Border Radio | Buy Tickets

Dear Fans of Bloomington Community Radio,

WFHB has a two-hour live show coming up Friday, March 27, at 8pm at the Buskirk-Chumley, and we in the cast, staff and production crew are scared whatever-less that there will be Empty Seats.

Please, PLEASE, cajole, threaten, beg, whatever it takes for your fellow FHB supporters and friends to come to this show--which will be a very good show, and I am unanimous in this--tell them to tell their ex-spouses, their ex-spouses friends and pets and people they meet on the streets. Tell them it's time for them to have a good time, and to see what community radio can do that no other media in town can come close to.

A Call to Action

Please tell your friends, family, and fellow FHBers -- we need HELP to make our Fall Fund Drive goal!

On Sunday afternoon, the leftovers from Hurricane Ike knocked WFHB's main frequency (91.3 FM) off the air, which in turn silenced the translators in Nashville (100.7 FM) and Ellettsville (106.3 FM). As of late Tuesday morning, all four WFHB frequencies are back in operation! The outage came at a bad time, as WFHB was only two days into its Fall Fund Drive when power at the main transmitter site went down.

Now as we regroup and double our efforts, we ask for your immediate assistance in order to make our $40,000 goal. We can only do it with your help!

For those of you who have already pledged, THANK YOU! Please spread the word to other community members who share a love of culturally diverse music and award-winning, independent news media.
